We lost a very dear friend the other day here on Sam Rayburn.
Don Mattern past away while out on the lake. He was the Pastor of a Church, a Christian and a terrific guide.  His sudden passing has left us all sad and shaken.  As happens with most young men Don didn't have adequate life insurance.  If you feel it in your heart to help his family, please do so.  Keep his family in your prayers.  God Bless.

Sam Rayburn is still falling as they pulled more water this week to 164.25.  The water is just starting to clear and some of the water in the back is getting clear around 3 to 4 ft.
Sam Rayburn has been tough on everyone but thing are about to change. We have been catching some post spawn fish this week along with some that have been protecting fry in the shallows. We have had a little top water bite early and late on Stanley Ribbits in the grass and pads.  It's still spotty but it's a start.  There are a lot of fish setting in the 4 to 8 ft range in the grass and it's been a challenge to get them to bite.  Wacky worms and flukes have done some good.  Slow way down and let them have time to think about it. The creek channels and points have been giving up a few fish on Texas rig worms but again you need to slow down. The offshore structure paid off with some fish in 18 to 24 foot on C/R and T/R.  That's a big plus to some that fish out there. If you haven't learned to fish structure now's the time to give me a call and get your trip booked.
Crappie; We have caught a few fish in the grass in the back of the pockets and have started to catch some off the brush piles.  Things are starting to kick off for the crappie fishermen. These fish will be moving in and out for a few weeks before everything will settle into the summer pattern.  Hopefully things will improve in the grass.  The new pontoon has plenty of room for everyone so get your group booked for a crappie trip,  get out and have some fun.

God Bless
