I do alot of bank fishing around my hometown. one of my problems is that without my boat i dont know what the water temp is.

Idea. go to walmart in the pet fish section and you can pick up a floating water thermometer for under two bucks. and it small and fits in your tackle box.
i attached mine to about 10 yards of line so i can throw it out and get different readings. i also attached a small float to the top and superglued a small weight to the bottom to keep it upright.

Now i can tell water temp at the surface and adjust my fishing depth accordingly

I do a lot of bank fishing and a few years ago I looked everywhere for a thermometer, I never even thought about trying a fish pet shop thermometer.

Great idea Mohunter  ~c~ ~c~

Cool idea, I do something similar. I use a NON MERCURY thermometer on a bobber. All I do is tie it the round on the thermometer and put a rubber band around the knot so it wont slip! Works pretty good!  ;)
