I'm a newbie and was wondering what is the closest boat ramp on the north side of the river for Guntersville Lake?  I want to try above and below the dam.  I'm driving from Huntsville.  Thanks.................

Are talking about fishing Guntersville Dam or Nickajack Dam.  The north end of the lake is Nickajack and the south end is Guntersville.  I think there is a ramp on the Wheeler side of the dam, not for sure.  I know there are plenty of ramps on the lake side but locking thru may be an option for you.

My apologies.  The north side of the river.  I'm talking about the big body of water near the town of Guntersville.  A guy at work said above and below the dam is good.  I'm looking for crappie this time of year and I hear the lake above the dam is a good spot.  Thanks.

The best thing I can tell you is to get a map that has all the ramps on there, I cant name all of them as they are literally a hundred ramps on the lake.

I will scan the portion of the map I have that shows the dam and the ramps that are near it.

This is the road that leads to the dam, I believe they got a sign on Hwy 431that says guntersville dam road, can't miss it.  the black "corner" represents a boat ramp:

This is the closest ramp from Hwy 431 S out of Huntsville.  This is HoneyComb Creek.  It looks to be a 5-6 mile run to the main river out of that ramp.  Then another 5-6 to the dam.

I can email you these pics too if you want me too.  I have a larger image but it is like 3mb.

Hope this helps...  ;)
