OK I just ordered it. :o I hope its a great unit. I am a newb to this stuff so any tips or info will be greatly appreciated.

I saw a post on another forum for a Garmin® echoMAP™ Plus 93sv with Transducer Item: IK-027372. I thought $599.97 was a good buy. I have been looking and just never bit the bullet so to speak. But this was some odd deal where it was unavailable at Cabelas website so you had to call 1-800-753-3218 and ask for item number 027372 . At first the lady just said its not on the website but stopped mid sentence and said oh here it is listed in our system. ;D Was free 2 day shipping too. I am extremely excited as I have never had anything remotely like this on my boat.

Really a funny story as I mentioned this post I read on the other site to my daughter. Unknown to me her and my brother had been scheming to get me a new fish finder for my Bday. He was actually going tomorrow after lunch to BassPro to pick up me a 7" Humminbird HELIX 7 SKU: 2648988. Well when I went back in my room she went frantically texting my brother about what to do. It was quite comical for a bit as she came to me and spilled the beans. They are putting up $400 towards my new Garmin unit as that is what they were going to pay for the Humminbird. :shocking: Needless to say I am very grateful for my daughter and brother doing this.

Now its time to hunt a deal on a new trolling motor.  :(

That's a great deal Steve! You will love it! If you fish any of the lakes that are in the LakeVu HD Ultra, I highly recommend get the LakeVu HD Ultra map card. That card make the Echomap magic.

One thing, Is it CHIRP? There are still older non-CHIRP units out there being sold.

I haven't got my unit yet but wanted to mount it up front I think. I like the mounts that look really secure. I'm just not searching good or don't know what I am looking for is called. Here is a pic of a mount the style I am considering. I did find a couple that were insane priced for a single piece of metal that has 4 bends in it and holes drilled in it. Does anyone have a suggestion for a reasonable priced mount similar to the one below.

I like that bracket, who makes it.  I'm putting in a recessed TM pedal tray Thursday and going to need one of those for my Echomap.

It was the least expensive one I found so far but they say out of stock. However I do see where it says

A little late to the post but the EC+ units are great units especially at the $599 price.....i paid around $850 for both last year.....really like them and the 2d is pretty dang good......if someone would research the one that are on sale are the "old" units that have the g2 mapping and the "new" ones on the website for $999 have the g3 mapping.......only difference is the new mapping which included Navionics lakes.......

As for the TM deck mount, i dont think you will find anything cheap.....if you have a fab shop in your area see how much it would cost for them to make you one.....my ex BIL worked at a welding/fab shop and i got him to make me one from a drawing i did.....of course it was free but it worked just as well as the expensive one and i made it to my own dimensions.

I believe from what I have been told and seen this is the new model. But I am not upon all the lingo so I don't know what a EC+ is. I did read I should wait to do my 1 time free map upgrade until the latest ones come out. Supposedly they are coming fairly soon.

As far as a mount I think Princeton_Man has found a solution. We were already discussing a work around. Its just insane to pay $100 for a strip of metal with 4 bends and a few holes drilled in it. I was going to make one before ever paying close to that.

Here is what I got.

Here is whats on the Garmin website.

Looks like a good one Steve. My fishing buddy John just got a new locater also but not sure what kind he got. I will have to wait till I see it in the spring but from what he said over the phone it sounds like a good one also. I will have to ask his wife to send me the info since John can't text with his phone. lo

EC+ is just me abbreviating Echomap Plus.......The $599 unit you have is the g2  mapping.....you do have up to a year AFTER purchase/registration to upgrade the internal mapping for free WITHIN 1 year....I have been told that we can upgrade to the new g3 maps once they get released.......If I remember correctly the units internal storage will not be able to house the map update so it will need to be place on an sd card.....Also max size for sd card is 32 GB.....

That is from my reading my understanding as well. The maps will be great for the few times I go to other lakes. Ill be using the mapping feature mostly as the lakes I fish although public are probably not on there.

OK Someone help me out please. I got this constantly coming up on the left side when using side imaging only. I originally thought possibly my motor was blocking it of ? But I raised the motor out of the water and it never changed.  :-\ Any ideas???

I would say your transducer is not level in the water Steve.

I will in a day or two work is going gang busters.

Princeton_Man I would love to know whats going on with it. I am pretty sure its positioned correctly as it wasn't doing this when I first turned it on. It just showed up and hasn't left the screen when on side imaging.

I glanced at it and it looked like it was still positioned correctly but Ill get a closer look and take some pics maybe tomorrow.

Hows this look?

Princeton_Man

It looks pretty good Steve, you want it to be parallel to the lake's bottom as you're moving along.
I'd suggest go into settings, reset it to factory defaults, and see if that corrects it.

OK I will try that. Its going to be probably a couple weeks or more. Im out of fishing just too much work right now.

Also make sure its not directly in line with the chine on the boat, that can cause turbulence.....i also noticed in the picture that its in "Auto Zoom" and the side range is at 5' (each side)......take it out of auto zoom.

I will I had it on and off and it was doing the same thing though. I was just trying to figure out why it was doing the lines is why it was back on auto.

Ill check the chine alignment and see if by chance its in line. I honestly don't know if it is or not. I was trying to reuse the old transducer screw holes as much as possible.

SteveTX

Finally got out today and apparently it fixed itself. Worked great. Thanks for the help fellas.

Hi All,

I have the Striker Plus 9sv and I'm having a hard time getting any clear picture out of clearvu.  You see below I am in split screen between 2D and clearvu and it just looks like interference on clearvu side.  Any advice on what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks,
Jason
