Just a week ago I bought a Lew's BB2 Inshore Speed Spool Model IS2SHL. My first baitcaster. Well, today I traded my Penn Fierce II on a Ugly Stick Gx2 rod for a Shimano Curado Model 201IHD.
These two are excellent baitcasters. Brake systems, gear ratio, IPT are somewhat similar. They both can be used for inshore/pier fishing. Very well made, very smooth.
The Shimano is a smaller profile, but the Lew's has a higher line capacity.
I'm going to spool them with mono line (14-17 lbs test) first, until I become confident with them, and then will probably spool one with a 40-65 lbs test braided line for heavier applications.

Here are some pictures.

1) Lew's BB2 Inshore Speed Spool Model IS2SHL.

2) Shimano Curado Model 201IHG.

Congrats on the new baitcasters. I predict they will slowly take over your arsenal. Only a matter of time lol. They are both great workhorse reels. I have owned 4 of the cu-i's. Keep a extremely light coat of a medium viscosity lube on the brake race to keep it quiet.

Congrats again on the reels. I have both Lews and Shimano reels in my arsenal, but I have loaded up on more shimano's. Before you know it you will be asking about how to upgrade your current reels.  lo When the time comes, look into slightly longer handles. Again, when the time comes... you still have a lot to learn.  8)

Thank you guys! Thank you for the tip on the brake race. I appreciate it!

Lou,
You are right. I have a lot to learn. I will eventually look into upgrades.
The one thing that got me thinking is how delicate, simple are the brakes on the Shimano.
I was expecting a harder material. But I guess it's just the appearance.
The box came with four extra brakes.

Awesome reels man. I hope they both treat you well!

Lou is right about it won't take you long. One benefit of a left hand reel is you can flip and pitch with it without swapping hands.

Hey I resemble that remark.

Congratulations!  Great equipment.  They will need a little more TLC when you come back from the salty water than you have to do with sealed spinning gear, but nothing major.

Mike your doing it wrong lol

Thank you guys! I am happy with both choices.
I need to find the time to hit the water and put them through their paces.

Those Battle 2s are sweet little reels too.  I picked on up when I lived in VB, now it only sees freshwater.

In Freshwater, they last forever.  Years ago in Florida I talked with a guy that had a deck covered with Penn SS reels.  He said that they were like ancient then, and still going strong, he only used them for bass fishin'.

I use my Battle 2s for pier fishing quite a lot. Granted, they don't get soaked in saltwater, but get some. When I get home, I close the drag completely, rinse them under tap water, and let them dry. So far so good.
I might get a Spinfisher V for boat fishing. The Spinfisher V is sealed/watertight.

The Vs are nice I have a few of them, even got a 4000 for the wife, in case we started wading again.  Heck I even got a 6500 bail-less V for the surf.  That is a casting fool, I'll tell ya.

Yep! Those bail-less ones are interesting.

If you tie all the spinning reels together you couple probly make something similar to a treble hook for anchoring yourself to shore. Like a snagger anchor???

Nah. I think I would use the spinning reels for their intended purpose.

I'm working on a house project and I am looking at selling the Lew's Baitcaster.
Is that something I can do here? Is it allowed?

There is an area to sell stuff if you are a Charter Member, but as a regular member you can register and use our buy sell / auction page on Facebook.  Many members are using it from what I understand.

Thanks for responding and for your advice.
