First ONE  ;D

Ok, I hear a lot of anglers finding it hard to fish stick baits Wacky Style....because it's way too slow and they prefer a 'fast' presentation.

So for you anglers and EVERY angler who throws stick worms (baits).

Toss it out as far as you can and let it sink. (you choose how long (depth).

Than work it like a Plastic Jerk Bait.
Now I'm talking hammer on the jerk!!!

Make the worm ends actually touch one another!!!!
You will find the hits will come usually right after the hard jerk usually when the worm is straightening itself out.

You cover a lot of water (good search baiting) and you won't fall a sleep waiting for it to drop.  lo

This technique will also work with a a long 'fluke' style bait....5in. or longer...like a Magnum Fluke.
Thinner is usually better for this.
The neat thing with these is the bait straightens AND will coast to the side, giving the Bass something new to see.
AND if you ever watched a dieing minnow....it's exactly how they act when dieing!

Don't be afraid to try it on a long Lizard style bait or Creature Bait, just place your hook in the center of baits instead of nose hooking.

You can vary the time between jerks if your using a lighter bait to let it settle back to desired depth but after settling be sure to continue the fast jerk retrieve...at least for 4-6 jerks.

If you are wanting to stay deep baits like the 'Sinking Minnow' work well.
Doc can ALSO design a heavier worm (stick bait) for you.

Hope this helps someone (A LOT OF YOU  lo) to open your mind to giving the Wacky Style Presentaion a try.
And those who already 'Wacky' rig...a NEW way to go about it.

Remember to cast me a vote OR TWO  ;D in the tip contest!!!!  I really want to WIN!!!!!!!!!

Good fishing EVERYONE and thanks for reading and YOUR VOTE! ;) ;D

I do use it in the Spring and Fall with good success but I actually will use it all season long.
BUT I do traditional wacky style too .

I used to do this years ago... good to know I'm not the only one to have figured it out, ha ha

SonofDitka,
Thanks!

Don't forget to come back and VOTE once Prince gets it going.  lo ;)
Will be soon though.

This presentation really does produce and it's so neat when you come back and jerk...you feel a fish there already.  ~c~ lo

Thanks again!

How successful is the unweighted wacky rig in winter, water temps <45F? It seems like it'd be a slow, subtle enough presentation but tough to keep down deep where the fish usually are.

analfisherman

Works good.

But if you want a faster fall try the flick shake technique.
Or a deeper fall...faster.

Small ball head jig (I use a weedless ball head).
Best to use like a 1/16th weight or a 1/8 if your looking for faster fall...but I use a 1/16th.
Wacky rig the worm (thinner worms work best for this, BUT A PLAIN OLD SENKO (stickbait) works fine).
Let it fall.
Once it hits bottom, let it sit and then just shake it with your rod tip.

I also will yo-yo it (pop it up...let it drop...sit,shake...pop it again...continue until you feel a bite.
Now you can 'hard jerk' it like I mentioned in the thread too.
Than work it like a Plastic Jerk Bait.
Now I'm talking hammer on the jerk!!!

Make the worm ends actually touch one another!!!!
You will find the hits will come usually right after the hard jerk usually when the worm is straightening itself out.

Now these anglers are actually talking about a 'Jackal Flick Shake Worm' BUT any thinner 6" worm will do.

Now you can do me a favor....stop at the link below and give me your VOTE!  ;) ;D
Like I said....I REALLY WANT TO WIN THIS CONTEST!!!!  lo

This technique is deadly on schoolers.  The Yamamoto plastic has more action than many of the fluke type baits out there.  A senko will flat outdance, outswim, and outshimmy them.  With the added benefit of being able to dead stick it between jerks you have the ability to target fish in multiple zones.

This one will get my vote.  Def a keeper.
