I often fish with wild shiners and use both bow and stern mushroom anchors, so I made a box for each. I used 2x4's for the sides and a 2x12 for the bottom. I put a wood screw through the bottom at each corner from the inside so the point of the screw is protruding out the bottom of the box. This penetrates about a quarter inch into the deck carpet and holds the box in place. I lined the box with pieces of sponge and cut off the bottom of a plastic bucket to hold the anchor. The anchor sets in the plastic bucket which catches the water and mud and is easily removed to wash out. I wrap the anchor line around the box when not in use. The PVC pipe screwed to the box serves as a rod holder when I need to set my rod down for a snack or a nature call.

That's great.  The best thing I like about it is not having the mess to deal with.  We have some nasty stuff in our parts, this fixes that problem  ~c~

Thornback, a lot of thought went into your anchor holder.  It certainly meets your needs.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Do you have anything to keep it from bouncing out, in case you are cruising and hit a wake or something. 
I like the bucket being removable, so you don't have to deal with that anchor mess.
Yes, that is a gator in my profile picture, but I was trying to catch a bass, so it counts!
One 3ft long, 10 pound "Largemouth" for me.

It has four drywall screws protruding through the bottom board about 1/4" that penetrate into the deck carpet. That helps keep it in place. Plus the weight of the anchors hold it on the deck when cruising and encountering a wake. I have never had a problem with it bouncing on the water. I have had it move when towing the boat and hit a bump in the road :)

Good deal!

I had to ask because when I was a kid, riding on the floor of my dad's bass boat, we hit a wave, I bounced up in the air, and the door for the storage area under the front deck opened, the anchor came flying out, I slammed down on top of the anchor.
Freak occurrence, but I've always secured my anchors, since.

My dad said it was lucky I was there, otherwise the anchor might have hit something valuable.  lo
