The next Dobyns rod I'm going to purchase is going to be 734c for it's versatility. I already have two of these rods and I can do anything with them.

Excellent spinnerbait rod. The tip loads perfect with baits up to half ounce giving me awesome casting accuracy. The back bone gives me great penetration with the big stout hook of a spinner, and keeps me in control when pulling a quality bass from cover.

Fantastic Texas rig rod. I normally recommend going with the top of the line Extreme series for bottom bouncing baits, but the Champion 734 has excellent feel and does the job great up to a 1/2 ounce. Really a half ounce is pushing it but can be done. I use mostly 1/8 to 1/4 and it's simply awesome.

So if someone was going to give you a Champion Series rod, which would you want and why?

That's a tough question lol. I have a SS703c and would like another 703c and upgrade for spinnnerbait, swimjigs, chatterbaits etc. I'm trying to save up for a 684CB for a jerkbait rod, we have a smallie jerkbait bite all season here. A 702SF is also on the wish list for a drop shot rod. There are just so many needs and not enough funds ;D

It is a tough question  :-*

Sounds like you've been working on this for a while ~shade

I'm slowly replacing the rods that got destroyed in the flood, damn insurance won't replace them.

Need a new dropshot rod so I would go with a 702SF. Hard to choose with so many rods in the Champion line.

I recently got a 734C, partly from you guys assessment and partly from other forums. But is as you described it a great all around rod. I use it for both techniques and love it. It is all I want to fish with. I could use a couple more.

But I really want to get, will be in the next 6 mo, a crank rod for my topwater hardbaits and lipless so it would be a 685CB.

And on my win the lotto wish list, a DX Mike Long Jig rod but I don't know if I could justify that right now.

I am with you Drake too many rods too little $$  lo

I didn't even have to think about this long. For me it would be a 735C F/H. I would use it primarily as a frog rod as I've heard it is the best frog rod on the market. It would also pull double duty as a Jig rod.

Never tried a Dobyns Rod, so I would like to try a 703C for jigs and senkos.

Smallie_Stalker

I have wanted to try a Dobyn's rod for a while, and have been looking at the 806CB RM for crankbaits. That is the rod I would choose and the technique I would use it for.

Adding another Dobyns to my arsenal would be awesome ! For me it's a tough choice between adding another 734c (love this rod) or another CB rod ! I will have to choose a 765CB for my deep diving Crankbait needs.

I would get another glass crankbait rod. I use it for spooks and med diving crankbaits. It does both of the well just not the same time.

703C for Texas Rig, since that's what I usually throw the most around here.

I have been looking for another all around rod to replace my Carrot Stix (still waiting for it to break!) so I too will be looking at the 734C, but what is the difference between the S/H and F/H?

I would be using it for spinnerbaits, swim baits and buzz baits, senko's, t-rigs and whatever else I may like.

I would have to say a Champion704C S/H. I would use that to mount my Zillion Coastal on, which is what I wanted for it to start with. I would use that as my new Jig setup with the better sensitivity that this rod gives.  ~gf
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Splithand

I would go with the 705cbmf, for cranks, jerkbaits, and maybe the occasional spinnerbait.
Thanks to UB and Dobyns for this opportunity.

704SF. I love an old trick worm and that rod could be a game changer for me.

DWOLFF

Regardless of getting lucky in this contest a Dobyns rod is on my radar for my next purchase. ( with wife approval of course...lol). I have been doing some research and since i spend a majority of time fishing plastics and jigs i would like to try a 734. Something versitile for multiple uses since funds are limited.
Thanks to UB and Dobyns for a chance. Good luck to everyone

Split-handle and Full-handle

Mike Bush

I would go with a 734 as well, full handle. The rod is just so versatile....hard to not pick that one. Its the best rod for several applications and can be used for others as well. Not sure of another rod I would have 10 of.

Capt. BassinLou

I have Champion 736C and I love it. I would enjoy the 735 for a little bit more versatility.

WVOIFVET

734C S/H is what I think I would like... or even the 684C just for the simple fact, I do not know any technique in particular oother than cast and reel... I havent had much practice time!  But those 2 seem to be the best all around rod for types of fishing from their descriptions!

rovingmutt

I'm a little old fashioned, I still use spinning rods for everything, I think I would like the 683sf rod, 6ft 8, seems better for me then 7 ft, I like a finesse rig, with sencos, flukes, etc..
rovingmutt
just a stick with a string tied to it

Chip Harm

I would go with the 735 with a full handle.  I think it would make a great jig rod as well as a good frog rod.

BassBUFF

I'm with Chip on this one, a 735 for basically the same reason. I could also use it for punching. ;D
