Welcome to the Ultimate Bass New Members Contest!

To all new members of UltimateBass.com,

Welcome to the site. As our way of saying thanks for joining us here at UltimateBass.com we have set up a New Member's Contest just for you. All you need to do is make a total of 5 posts to qualify. Any post you make anywhere throughout the entire site will count, but at least 1 must be posted here so we know that you want to be entered in the contest. Any other posts that you have already made will show up in your post count as well. If you haven't done so already, stop by the Let Us Get To Know You board and tell us a little about yourself. That will give you another post toward the 5 you need. Each week on Friday one name will be drawn from the list of new members in this thread who have reached 5 or more posts. So check back each week to see if you are the lucky winner. The sooner you post the better your chances are of winning!

But Wait, there is a bonus!  If you joined this month and you don't win a prize you will get a second month's worth of chances to win. Your name will stay on the new members list until the end of next month and automatically go into next month's contest.

If you signed up after the last drawing of the month don't worry. You will still be entered in the next two month's drawings.

So what can you win?  We have some of the best sponsors on the web here at UltimateBass.com and each month we give away great prizes that they have provided to us specifically for this activity. If you want an idea of what the prizes could be, stop by the sponsor's web sites and check them out. To help you find their web sites just look to the side(s) of this thread and click on their banner.

Even though the prizes are drawn weekly they will not be mailed out until after the first week of the following month.   The winner's screen-name will be posted each weekend in this thread and again in next month's contest, along with those names that get a second chance.

Once you have posted in the New Member Contest to get entered in the drawing, don't forget to check out all of the other great boards that we have to offer. Some people have wondered why it can sometimes take so long to get their item when they win so I thought I would just quickly address the basics of the issue here.

Firstly, everyone should read the first post in the thread at the top of the page all the way through to get an understanding of all of the rules and how the contest works.
Near the bottom of the page you will find a line that reads "Even though the prizes are drawn weekly they will not be mailed out until after the first week of the following month. ".  So if you win the first contest in May, your item does not get shipped until after the first week in June. After that, depending on where you live, it will take additional time to get you. Most of the time winners get their item within a week after it is shipped out.

It is easier to keep track of which prizes went out and when if all of the winners for a particular month are processed and mailed all at the same time. It also cuts down on the amount of times a post office run needs to be made and saves on gas for the person who has to make those runs.

Secondly, there are certain times of the year, such as around major holidays when the whole process may be delayed a bit. This is to be expected, as staff members take me to be with their families, not to mention the increased load on the Postal Service at these times of the year.

Thirdly, on rare occasions, the prizes are shipped directly from the sponsor or manufacturer.

I understand the excitement and anticipation of waiting on something that you have won, especially if you don't know for sure what it is.

I hope this helps a little in understanding the process and the occasional challenges that go into making this contest possible.

I would also like to thank all of you, the members for your understanding and for making this contest so much fun. And of course a big thanks to the sponsors who donate the fantastic tackle that makes it possible to have these contests at all.

When it comes to the contest I am just doin' my job. I do believe we have the best staff and sponsors on the planet, but IMHO it is the members of Ultimate Bass that make this the best place on the web to talk and learn about fishing. You all take the time to share your knowledge, your tips and even your personal stories and it all makes us not only better anglers, but better people.

This is why I refer to Ultimate Bass as a family and not just a site full of members. We truly care for and about each other, and we take care of our own. So thank you to all of you that have made this a place where I can come every day and unwind, vent, and share. This is my home away from home and you all are my family I just haven't met yet.
