This is the Official Open Invitation to join some of the fellow members of UB for some fun and fishing at Lake Okeechobee.

The Dates for this get together will be Feb 18 – 21 2006. We had planned on staying at Roland Martins Marina the entire time but they are full on Sat the 18th so we will be staying at the Best Western in Clewiston FL on the 18th and starting the evening of the 19th at Roland Martins Marina right on the Lake.

Hotel/Room arrangements can be made individually but we may have a connection to get a discount. We need to know who is committed to making this trip. Once we get a count on rooms we can try for the discount. Anyone planning on attending, to meet some new UB members and have a good time, please make a post in this thread so that we may get an idea of how many people will be joining us.

For those that are traveling, there are people that live in the area that know the lake and plan on being there to assist us in locating that once in a lifetime fish.

We need to know who needs what kind of accommodations. Ie; if it's just you and your wife then you might just want one of the Hotel rooms, if there's four or five guys like the Garagemahal gang then you might want a 4 bedroom condo. Please take a minute before you post on here to go to http://www.rolandmartinmarina.com/ and see what they have to offer.  (Mods- this hyperlink was approved by Laurie today)

We need to be able to give Rolands plenty of leeway so that we can possibly get a discount if there's a lot of interest, so please post what kind of accommodations you require in this thread PRIOR TO Dec 1st.  Reason for the deadline is that this is the busiest time of year for them and the rooms fill up very fast.

I will get in touch with everyone that posts in here to let them know when and what the final prices will be and when to make your reservations.

Ok....here is some info.  The Best Western is good for the 18th of February.  Double bed $118.00 single $109.00.  We will only need that place for one night.

Bulk discounts 15 rooms or more......don't think we'll make that.....No military discounts.  I tried to beat them down on the price and they weren't budging...I guess they figured out that they have the only decent hotel on Hwy. 27

Everyone will be responsible for there individual reservations.  I suggest that you make you reservations for the Best-Western ASAP.  The reason we needed you to post what type of lodging you require for the nights we stay a Roland's is we are trying to get reduced rate rooms for everyone.  The way it will work is once we get all the rooms together Spetro will call Roland's tell them what we need and then each individual will make there reservations for Rolands.  Is anyone confused?  Spetro should be along here shortly with more info.

As for the Classic I have no idea  If someone in the local area has some ideas on hotels that will be close to the festivities please chime in.

It is looking like we are going to have some great participation from members and that will make for a great time...February can't come quick enough

Cheese.....ya better type in the addy of the classic and go to hotels.com and find a hotel.  Between BMC and disneyworld....Hotels might not be that easy to find. get movin son.

Im calling rolands today.  I'll look into 1 condo...and 5 rooms.  If the condos are out of reach ($$$$) I'll check on 8 rooms

so far I have..........
scwb
cheese
largemouthlou-petite
triton1a
me
mike-laurie
tritoned
blazer21
seebee
allen and luke?
FastCat folk
outlaw1-fine red bass

That looks like eight rooms.  I know Ramon will discount with ten.  So I'll call him today....find out about the condo, and get pricing and discount pricing info.  I'll also squeeze some free drinks out of him like last time...(I hope)

OK.......here it is.  The info you have ALL been waiting for.

Roland's rates in season are $95.00 per night.  Management has blocked 15 rooms under Ultimate Bass.  If we book 10 rooms....All our prices will drop to $85.00. Condos are $185.00 per night...two BR.  Two beds per room and a pull out couch in some condos.

The tiki bar is up and running.  The main hotel will have been fully renovated by the time we show up.

The inside ramp is operational now.  The outside ramp will be useable by the time of our adventure rolls around.

The folks at the front desk may not know about the blocked rooms.  Tell them at has been cleared by Ramon.

go here for more info.  http://www.rolandmartinmarina.com/rv%20park.htm

Please don't wait until the last minute......This is season down here and this place will fill up Quick!!!

Just got off the phone with B.A.S.S. and got the scoop. The Classic Show and weigh-in will all take place at the:
Orange Co. Convention Center
9800 International Dr.
Orlando Fl 32819

I have also been on the phone with the Orlando visitors hotline and found a great link to hotels that are right on I-Drive very close to all the action.

http://orlandoinfo.com/accommodations/accomm_results.cfm?newsearch=1&sitearea=accomm&siteareaid=4&pagetitle=&subtitle=&formorg=&formcat=%25&formSector=S_IDRIVE&Submit=Search+%C2%BB

Some of the hotels are priced very reasonable.

I just thought that I might also add in that the Orlando BPS is right down the street from the convention center.
I'm sure some of the local UB members will chime in with a little more info. to help us all out.

Mike Cork

Got a buddy in Mississippi that we are going to visit on the way. So we will have a bout a 6 hour trip up front and a 12 hour ride on the back side. Good thing about it, is that it will all be new territory and fun to watch as we drive by  ;)

Nawwwwwwww they tell us there is a GPS on the equipment and if we leave the county with it, it quits runnin....... :(

Don't know if that is true or not, but when we go to out of county to classes and meetings we usually take a truck that just came back from our fleet service, and it goes right back in when we bring it back.  >:(

They say its a type of theft deterrent because of the type of equipment and chemicals we carry.
