The drop shot rig has been around for a long time now and almost everyone I know uses it at one point or another but there are many ways that the drop shot can work, like pitchin' it in docks, weeds, rock, and wood. Now the drop shot was created for deep water off shore structure fishing, but you can fish it from 6 inches of water to 60 feet of water.

After nearly 35 years of pro fishing, Guy Eaker, 69, has one more goal he’d like to reach before he hangs up his Bassmaster Elite Series hat. “I would definitely like to make the Classic one more time,” said the pro from Cherryville, N.C., who qualified for the Bassmaster Classic 10 times from 1980-1992. “Then I’ll give it up — that’s the plan, anyway.” Eaker said two factors prompted his recent announcement to retire after the end of the 2010 Elite season.
